Even if it’s just a faint smell, make sure that you call your gas company immediately! For the past few months, we’ve been smelling a faint smell of gas when we cook. We always thought it was due to the gas stove. We also have a carbon monoxide alarm in the house and it has never sounded. So we never took any action regarding the smell. Dumb, huh?
Anyway, we decided to call the utility company today and they came and shut off the gas immediately. They checked under the stove and actually found 3 leaks!! The leaks were due to loose pipe joints. Grrrrr… that means that the stove installer did a bad job during installation. I hate it when they do that!! Anyway, the repair’s done and the gas smell is gone. We really should have called the utilities earlier to get it fixed. Thank God that there were no serious consequences. So don’t be like us. Make sure you call the utility company no matter how faint the smell is!!
