Photo Hunters: Unique/Funny Sign

by CJ on 25 April, 2008

What’s so unique about this sign?

Usually speed limits are posted at 10 mph, 15 mph, 20 mph and so on. Rarely can you find one that says 9 mph, don’t you agree? :) Actually the person-in-charge did that on purpose, hoping that drivers will take a second look and really do slow down.

Edited to add: This speed limit is located in a housing community that’s why it’s super slow. :)

Thanks for visiting my . Have a great weekend.

Very unusual. I don’t believe that I’ve seen one under 15 mph.

ellen b April 25, 2008 at 4:17 pm

ha! What a fabulous find for this weeks theme. Very funny.

tokenhippygirl April 25, 2008 at 4:18 pm

I have to say, I’ve never seen one like it. It’s a good idea though, because I’d certainly take a second look if I passed it.

sarge charlie April 25, 2008 at 4:30 pm

that is a strange sign, why not 8, or 7???

Carver April 25, 2008 at 4:38 pm

I’ve never seen a 9 mph sign. Great idea.

Sue April 25, 2008 at 4:47 pm

Angela at mommy bytes April 25, 2008 at 5:12 pm

Oh that’s painfully slow!

napaboaniya April 25, 2008 at 6:25 pm

That would take some time to reach one’s destination I guess!! :P

jmb April 25, 2008 at 6:34 pm

That’s a great idea and it gave you a great opportunity for this theme. Have a great weekend Blur Mummy

maiylah April 25, 2008 at 7:54 pm

cool find! though of course some drivers just might not agree with me. :D
happy weekend!

julie April 25, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Woo, this is fun :)

mama meji April 25, 2008 at 8:38 pm

That’s really unique, even strange. I agree-maybe they did that on purpose. OS people will need to double take and slow down.

on the Rock April 25, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Most places you get a ticket for going slow, as equally as for going fast… I can imagine the wear on brakes going only 9!

Corey April 25, 2008 at 9:53 pm

oh my….I think it is a great idea. I would take a second look as well.
happy weekend.

Criz Lai April 25, 2008 at 10:01 pm

I do not know the conversion to Kilometer but I got a booked for driving at 60km/h. That’s crazy. It was like a slow turtle. :P

marcia @ joyismygoal April 25, 2008 at 11:38 pm

not 8 or 10 or you are busted

archiearchive April 25, 2008 at 11:57 pm

Here in Australia I have seen signs for 5 Kmh (3mph) – inside elderly village precincts. Being overtaken by OAP’s and their zimmer frames is disconcerting! 9mph is definitely odd!

Flo April 26, 2008 at 12:31 am

That would make you do a double take, so I guess it works :)

Huey April 26, 2008 at 1:27 am

It’s not quite the same as we have here. Like Criz, ours is 60km/h or so. :D

Liz April 26, 2008 at 1:48 am

That is very slow! A good idea to make people notice though.

graham April 26, 2008 at 2:08 am

eastcoastlife April 26, 2008 at 2:53 am

That’s too slow! I would rather walk. :)
I admit the person behind this sign is creative.

HOOTIN' ANNI April 26, 2008 at 3:31 am

I could NOT do the speed limit. No way.

Mine’s posted…stop by and see if you can figure it all out!!

Lynn April 26, 2008 at 3:44 am

I hope that when the drivers see it, they follow it. :)

Chikai April 26, 2008 at 4:18 am

girasoli April 26, 2008 at 4:02 pm

I don’t think anyone could get away with saying they didn’t notice the speed limit with that sign. Great choice!

rach April 26, 2008 at 4:19 pm

I’ve never seen one for 9 before!

Dawn April 26, 2008 at 6:16 pm

OMG, that is too slow, but a good one for the theme.

Barbara H. April 26, 2008 at 7:01 pm

That’s a great one — it makes you look twice because it is not what’s expected.

sammawow April 26, 2008 at 7:19 pm

Great take on today’s theme with your sign! But I would have a hard time driving that speed!

Sandy M April 26, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Great sign, but wonder why they picked 9. Interesting.

tigerfish April 27, 2008 at 12:08 am

I hope that don’t cause more accidents as people may be distracted in their second look :O

jams o donnell April 28, 2008 at 5:12 am

jesie April 28, 2008 at 4:58 pm
