What’s so unique about this sign?

Usually speed limits are posted at 10 mph, 15 mph, 20 mph and so on. Rarely can you find one that says 9 mph, don’t you agree?
Actually the person-in-charge did that on purpose, hoping that drivers will take a second look and really do slow down.
Edited to add: This speed limit is located in a housing community that’s why it’s super slow.
Thanks for visiting my PhotoHunt. Have a great weekend.

Very unusual. I don’t believe that I’ve seen one under 15 mph.

ha! What a fabulous find for this weeks theme. Very funny.

I have to say, I’ve never seen one like it. It’s a good idea though, because I’d certainly take a second look if I passed it.

April 25th, 2008 at 4:38 pm

April 25th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
That would take some time to reach one’s destination I guess!!
April 25th, 2008 at 6:34 pm

Woo, this is fun
April 25th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
That’s really unique, even strange. I agree-maybe they did that on purpose. OS people will need to double take and slow down.

Most places you get a ticket for going slow, as equally as for going fast… I can imagine the wear on brakes going only 9!
April 25th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
oh my….I think it is a great idea. I would take a second look as well.
happy weekend.

I do not know the conversion to Kilometer but I got a booked for driving at 60km/h. That’s crazy. It was like a slow turtle.

not 8 or 10 or you are busted
April 25th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Here in Australia I have seen signs for 5 Kmh (3mph) - inside elderly village precincts. Being overtaken by OAP’s and their zimmer frames is disconcerting! 9mph is definitely odd!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:31 am
That would make you do a double take, so I guess it works
April 26th, 2008 at 1:27 am
It’s not quite the same as we have here. Like Criz, ours is 60km/h or so.
April 26th, 2008 at 1:48 am
That is very slow! A good idea to make people notice though.
April 26th, 2008 at 2:08 am

April 26th, 2008 at 2:53 am
That’s too slow! I would rather walk.
I admit the person behind this sign is creative.
April 26th, 2008 at 3:31 am
I could NOT do the speed limit. No way.

April 26th, 2008 at 3:44 am

April 26th, 2008 at 4:18 am

That’s a great one — it makes you look twice because it is not what’s expected.
April 26th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Great take on today’s theme with your sign! But I would have a hard time driving that speed!
April 26th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Great sign, but wonder why they picked 9. Interesting.
April 27th, 2008 at 12:08 am
I hope that don’t cause more accidents as people may be distracted in their second look :O
April 28th, 2008 at 5:12 am
That is an unusual limit.. I hope it works
April 28th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
