No power

Published by under Rambling

Yesterday morning, I woke up to discover that there was no power in my house. I think this is the first power outage we’ve had since we moved in 1 1/2 years ago. It feels kinda strange having no power. Do you ever realized how crippled we are without power? No TV, no computer, no microwave, no oven, no hot water, no heater, no telephone (the cordless ones) and even my garage door doesn’t work!! I had to figure out how to open the garage door manually so that I can get my car out!! Luckily the power came back a few hours later.

Backache

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

For the past few days, I have been sitting in front of my laptop. Nope, not working on my blogs but I have been trying to sort out my thousands of photos!! It’s been a month since I got back from my cruise and I haven’t even gotten around to organizing those photos yet. Hopefully I will get to them soon. Anyway, I have a backache now because I have been sitting on my very uncomfortable office chair for too long. I think it will be a good idea to take a break for a couple of days before continuing my photo organizing. Maybe some new office furniture might help too!

Loving her swimming class

Published by under Kids,Useful Links,V

Lil’ C just started attending swimming class this month and she loves it. Even though she gets a little scared especially when the instructor asks her to jump from the side of the pool, she can’t wait to go to her class every week. Since she is having her lessons in an indoor pool where it is warm, she will be able to continue her swim lesson even in the cold winter. However, I will have to buy a new swimsuit for her since she seems to be outgrowing the current one. She is really going through a growth spurt lately!

Don’t forget your travel insurance

Published by under Useful Links,V

My parents travel a lot and to my dismay, they usually travel without travel insurance. It is not a problem in most of the countries but in the US, if they happen to get sick, it will be hard for them to see the doctor without insurance. That’s exactly what happened to my mom when she came here a few years ago. She got sick and luckily it was not too serious and she managed to get some medical care from a friend. Since then I am been trying to remind them to get their travel insurance before they travel. Hopefully they will remember to do so before their next trip.

Summer is slipping away

Published by under Rambling

Last night when it was time for Lil’ C to go to bed, I realized that the sky is almost dark at 9 pm already. For the past 2 months, the sky did not turn dark till 10 pm. I guess it’s a sign that summer is drawing closer to its end and fall is just around the corner. Time sure passes fast when you are having fun. This summer has been a crazy one with lots of travelling and visitors. One more month to go! We have one more trip to Oregon in late Aug and hopefully we can squeeze in another camping trip somehow. Then it will be back to school for Lil’ C and more personal time for Mommy?? :P

She’s all better

Published by under Kids

Thanks to all your concerns and prayers. Lil’ C is better now. Her eye is still a little red but at least it’s no longer swollen. She’s back to her cheerful self again.

So to all parents, if you notice any bites or redness on the upper eyelids of your kids, get it checked out as soon as possible to rule out periorbital cellulitis.

My own bakery in the future?

Published by under Useful Links,V

If you have visited my food blog, you would have noticed that I love to bake. Unfortunately for the time being, my 3 year old takes up all my time leaving me hardly any time to bake. Hopefully in a few years time when she is off to school, I will be able to devote more time to baking and maybe, just maybe I will be able to open up a little bakery franchise in my neighborhood.

Photo Hunter: What IS that?

Published by under Photo Hunter,Photography

I have blogged about this before last year but I am reposting it again because it is something that still boggles my mind! :)

What IS this and how do you use it?

If you haven’t guessed it, it’s somesort of a slide. This equipment has been sitting at a nearby playground for more than a year and we are still not quite sure how to use it!! At first we thought the slide has been installed upside down but nope, it’s seems to be correct. In the first photo, the steps do not even lead up to the light blue slide. It’s about 1 feet away!?! Anyone has any idea how to use this? :)

Thanks for visiting my . Have a great weekend, everyone. :)
