He loves his cars!

Published by under Rambling,V

My neighbor loves cars. If I am not mistaken, he owns four cars and there are only two drivers in his household! He likes to buy old cars, fixes them up and then sells them. That is why he has so many cars right now. A couple of them are work in progress. Every time we visit his house, he can usually be found in the garage tinkering with the cars. The floor is always full of all sorts of Toyota parts, Honda parts and even Ferrari parts. I wonder if he will help me fix my car when I decide to sell it in the future.

Spring gardening

Published by under Around the house,V

With all the snow and freezing temperature that we have been having this winter, I am so ready for spring and summer to get here. I am even ready to do some gardening for spring. The garden stores have already started selling perennials. I am planning to plant some of them in my flower bed. I wonder if I could plant some plum trees too since my little girl loves plum. Do they even grow well in our wet weather? Hmm, maybe I should find out more information before deciding whether to plant or not.

February Snow

Published by under Daily Life

This morning, we woke up to this . . . . . .

February Snow

Sigh.. that means no field trip to the zoo today. There’s 3 inches on the ground and there are still snow flurries as I am writing this. It’s a mess on the roads today because a lot of people were caught off guard by the snow. After all, it is already the end of February! When will Spring be here?

Snow on the way

Published by under Rambling,V

Snow tomorrow??? At least that is what the weatherman is saying. Oh great! Why is it still snowing at the end of February? As much as I love snow, I think we have had way too much snow this year. Lil’ C’s preschool class is having a field trip to the zoo tomorrow and at this moment, I have no idea if it will be cancelled. It will depend on the weather tomorrow. If it ends up being cancelled, she will be really disappointed. I will have to figure out something to entertain her at home if that happens. I might just have to let her watch a little TV while mommy lounges on the office furniture and blog. Ha!

Too complicated for me

Published by under Daily Life,Useful Links,V

I do not understand insurance!! Do you? Yesterday I went to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy. Last month I didn’t have to pay anything for my medication. This month I had to pay 55 cents for the exact same prescription! I know 55 cents is not much but I was just a little puzzled that I had to pay for it. Even the pharmacist could not tell me why. I wonder if I will have to pay $1 next month. Speaking of insurance, I am thinking of getting term life insurance which is just as complicated. I am glad that there are websites that instantly compare term life insurance so that it is easier for me to decide which insurance I should get.

Acting wierd again!

Published by under Useful Links,V

Remember sometime ago I mentioned that there was something wrong with my laptop and I had to send it to be repaired? It turned out that they had to replace the whole motherboard. When I got it back, it was working fine till last week. It started acting weird again. It seems like it’s the same problem that I had before. I think that it’s the video card problem again. Since this laptop is still under warranty, I will send it to the service center to be checked out again. This is probably the most problematic laptop that I had so far. I think next time I will check out other brands like the Toshiba Satellite or Dell.

The good old days

Published by under Rambling,V

Since this week is mid-winter break and we don’t have to go anywhere, we have been spending a lot of time at home. Yesterday, I decided to clean up and organize my home office. It is a mess! Anyway, while organizing, I came across some old photos from high school. Gosh, it really brought back a lot of memories. I loved those carefree days where the only major worry we had was probably acne problems! Clothes were never a problem since we wore uniforms and there were less boy problems since it was an all-girls school. School was definitely less complicated then.

Creating a mini story book

Published by under All about C,Kids,Learning

It’s mid-winter break this week. That means no school! So I am at the mercy of a 4 year old all day. So far it has been fun just hanging out with my little one. Guess where we were at all day today? The bookstore!!! Yes, I realized that my little 4 year old is a total bookworm. She could just sit and read all day. Yes, she can read all by herself too. Lil’ C started reading even before she turned 3. Now she is into reading chapter books already. It is actually a little scary for me because I feel that some of the contents of the chapter books are not appropriate for her yet. So nowadays, I try to do a little pre-screening of the books.

Anyway, I realized that through all the reading, she has reached a point where she is creating her own story too. So recently I decided to cut up some papers, added a colored paper for a cover and created some blank mini storybooks for her to write her stories.

This was the first story that she wrote a couple of weeks ago.
The cover:
Storybook1

Pages 1&2:
Storybook2

Pages 3&4:
Storybook3

Back cover:
Storybook4

She still has all her uppercase and lowercase all jumbled up but it doesn’t matter. I was pretty surprised that she wrote the whole book by herself. Since then, we have been working on a few more books. Yesterday we had one about monsters & princesses!!! That one has lots of pictures instead of words. But it was definitely an interesting read. :)
