My Wii Fit misses me!

Published by under Rambling,V

Ugh! It has been a week since I stepped on the Wii Fit! Besides the fact that I am still recovering from my nasty cold, I have been trying very hard to get my taxes done. Usually I will get it done by February every year but this year, I am so far behind. There’s still two more weeks but hopefully I will be able to finish it up in a day or two. After that I will need to get back to my Wii Fit routine again. I think I have gained back all the weight I had previously lost. Oh well, back to square one again. I guess no sexy lingerie for me for now. Maybe after I reach my ideal weight!

A perfect ending to a miserable start

Published by under Rambling

I am talking about the weekend. Saturday was a very wet day. It rained the entire day and it was one of those days where we always ask the question “Why did we move from sunny Florida to this wet & gloomy Pacific Northwest???” Then Sunday came and it was just an absolute gorgeous day! It was a little cold but the skies were blue and there were no rain. Before I moved here, I was never really appreciative of the blue skies but nowadays when I see blue skies, I am so happy and grateful. So after church, we went to the park, flew a kite, rode bikes and checked out a few playgrounds which made the little one really really happy! Now if only the blue sky will stay for a while.

The buzzing television

Published by under Around the house,V

Lately my TV has gone a little crazy. Whenever we turned it on, it emits this sharp buzzing sound. Not a fun sound when you are having a sinus infection!! Now I understand why babies cry when the airplane gets off the ground. If their ears hurt from the air pressure as much as mine did from the sound from the TV, then no one should blame them for their crying! Anyway, DH is still trying to figure out the problem. Yesterday he tightened some screws in the TV and for a few hours, the noise was gone. However our joy was short-lived when the noise came back. Sigh! It might be time for a new TV which is totally not in our budget this year. DH still has a few tricks up his sleeve and he is going to try them out this weekend. Hopefully it will be an easy fix otherwise the money that was budgeted for home theater chairs will go towards a new TV instead.

Not as easy as I thought

Published by under Rambling,V

For the longest time, I have always wanted a swimming pool at my home. Then we moved to Florida where almost everyone had a pool in their backyard and suddenly I did not want it anymore. Call me naïve but I really thought that having a pool is just about digging a hole, filling it with water and having fun. I really underestimated the amount of time and money needed to maintain a pool. There are all sorts of pool pool supplies necessary to keep it in good condition like the filter, pump, chlorine, cleaners and most importantly the safety equipments. A friend who was away for a couple of weeks came back to find mold in her pool because the pool pump broke down when she was away! So, there are no plans for a pool in my backyard anytime soon.

A fruitful day

Published by under Around the house,Rambling,V

The little one is sick AGAIN! So we decided to skip school and just hang out at home. It is amazing how much things get done when we are not running around town to different activities. It’s 11 am and I’ve already cleaned house, done a load of laundry, sorted out C’s artwork from school, pay some bills and even cooked chicken soup for lunch! Maybe I will even get around to cleaning up my office and clearing off the piles of paperwork that has been cluttering up my computer desks.  Hey, I might actually get to use my computer desks again instead of the dining table! This is really turning out to be a really fruitful day.

Spring oh spring, where art thou???? It is officially the first day of spring but it is definitely still feeling like winter. I am really looking forward to these flowers blooming soon. These were last year’s flowers. Hopefully this year’s bloom will be beautiful and not be affected too much by the freezing winter.

Another house on the market

Published by under Around Town,Rambling,V

My neighbor just put up his house for sale last weekend. That must be the reason why he has been checking out the Wilmington NC real estate market lately. He must have finally made up his mind to permanently move back to his hometown. Actually he did put his house up for sale 6 months ago but due to the lack of response, he took it off the market and decided to postpone his move. Unfortunately it seems like it will be a long time before we see the light at the end of the real estate tunnel. It might just be wiser to sell his house at a loss than to wait for the real market estate to turn around. I really hope that he will be able to sell his house soon.

A little rant

Published by under Ranting

Hello…. anyone around?? yes, I am still around. Been under the weather lately and it seems like so’s the entire community! It seems like every kid in the preschool is down with something. I’m not sure if it’s because of the freezing weather this week or it’s due to the yo-yo-ing weather where it’s 60 degree one day and then 30 the next! We even had snow the first half of the week. I really can’t wait for spring to be here.

Anyway, I just came out of the doctors office and just had to rant a little. Is it just me or does the medical system here drives anyone else crazy? I’ve been having some medical issues that has been bothering me. So it’s off to Doctor A who then sends me off to Doctor B who sends me to Doctor C and it continues. First of all, in order to see Doctor A, I’ve had to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance, then on the day of appointment, there’s another 1 hour wait before I get to see Dr A for 10 MINUTES!! Then I have to make an appointment 1 month in advance for Dr B, then it’s another 1/2 wait for a 15 Minute appointment. After which, there’s more advance appointments for tests etc. My rant is why is it so hard to get an appointment when the dr only gets to see you for 10-15 minutes!!  Many many months later and I still do not have an answer to my problem.

I remember when I was in Florida and had a really bad cold, all I needed was to see the dr for an antibiotic prescription. Guess what, the dr’s office gave me the earliest appointment, 2 MONTHS later!!! Seriously, that is ridiculous! I don’t think that I would need to see the doctor 2 months later. I am sure that I would have recovered by then.

Grr… enough ranting for now. Just had to get it off my mind. I am so glad it’s Friday and it’s looking beautiful outside. Hopefully the blue skies will stay around for the weekend. Happy weekend, everyone.

Fickle-minded weather!

Published by under Around Town,Ranting

Seriously I think the weather has just gone crazy! In the past 24 hours, we’ve had heavy snow, snow flurries, hail, sleet, rain and even a tiny peek of blue skies. The funny thing is that it comes in random order. It would hail for a while, then snow, then sleet and so on. The weather is definitely too fickle-minded for my liking!!
