If you have been visiting this blog, you may notice that I have not been putting up any photos lately. It is not because I have not been taking any photos. Rather it is because the photos have been sitting in the memory card in my camera. I have not been able to transfer the photos from the camera to the laptop because my laptop is running out of memory. The easy solution is probably to run out and buy buy memory for my laptop but I realize that I have already bought 3 external hard disks which are not fully utilized. I just need to sit down and do a proper organization of the photos. I am sure that I will find more space after I delete some old and blur photos.

I am melting!!!! Just heard on the news that the highest temperature at the airport today was 103 making it the hottest day since they started record keeping in 1891 (Yes, not a typo, it’s 1891, not 1981). When I was on my way to the gym to cool off, the car temp was registering 108!!! Help!!
If you are from the south where I lived for many years, you might be wondering what the fuss is all about since this kind of temperature is common in the south. But bear with us whiners because this kind of temp. is not what we are used to. We are used to temp in the 50s & 60s. So this is so rare for us and to make matters worse, we have NO A/C!!! When I was living in Florida, we had the A/C on full blast in the summer. So it didn’t really matter what the outside temp was because it was nice in the house.
It was 97 in my upstairs loft today and probably about 95 in my kitchen. I have boycotted my kitchen for the past few days. Gosh, this heat is bad for my wallet! We’ve been eating out & shopping a lot this week just because we needed to be in a place with A/C. Hope it starts cooling down soon. I am missing my cool gloomy weather.

Hot as we’re in a heatwave right now! I can’t think straight today because it is HOT, HOT & HOT!!! We have no AC at the house! It really took me by surprise when we moved to our house and discovered that there was no central A/C. Apparently it is the norm here because we don’t get enough hot days in a year to warrant a central A/C. Yes, it’s true that we don’t get a lot of hot days but those few hot days are really scorching! My upstairs loft reached 93 degree yesterday! Luckily the basement doesn’t get that warm, so we retreated to the basement and just hung out there.
In order to stay cool, we are hanging out at the library today. I guess a lot of people have the same thoughts because the library is packed, more than usual. I am also boycotting my kitchen this week. I tried to make dinner last night and it was no fun cooking at the stove at 90 degree weather! I am definitely not doing it again today. Take-outs, here I come.
It is suppose to hit 100 tomorrow! HELP!! I know that it is common for some cities to be in the triple-digits in the summer but it is pretty rare here. Yes, I am a wimp and I do not like hot weather which is pretty ironic considering i grew up in a tropical country.
That’s all the ramblings for today. Stay cool everyone!

My little girl will be starting kindergarten in September and just thinking about it is making me think about my own career. If I ever want to get back into the workforce, this is probably the best time to make a move. Even though I do have a graduate degree, it has been many years since I have been in the corporate world. That is why I have been checking the Masters in Organizational Leadership online degree from Gonzaga. From my understanding, Masters in Organizational Leadership covers broader subjects than Masters in Organizational Development which means that it will give me more career options. Hopefully with this degree, coupled with my business background, will pave my way back into a consulting career.

The weather has been really good this summer. Today was no exception. It was hot and yet there was still a cool breeze. So instead of staying at home and checking out insurance online, we decided to go out to the park for a picnic. Unfortunately, the whole city has the same thought because we ended up wandering from park to park trying to find empty parking spots! All the parks were full especially the beach parks. I guess everyone is just taking advantage of the great weather to be outside instead of staying at home. We finally did find a park that was a little less crowded and had a great time. We might just brave the crowd again if the weather is just as good tomorrow.

Yikes, now I’ve got 3 rock dings in my car windshield! There are 2 in one car and 1 in the second car. I am pretty sure that they are caused by the flying rocks on the highway. With construction going on everywhere, there are lots of trucks carrying truckloads of construction materials on the highway and a lot of them are going really fast causing some debris to fall out. I usually try to avoid driving behind the trucks but sometimes it is unavoidable. So now I’ve got 3 dings from those falling debris!! Unfortunately my insurance will only cover the repairs for one of the cars. Boohoo! It is probably time to start getting auto insurance quotes to see if I can get better insurance coverage.

After a long break, here’s my entry for the Photo Hunt this week. The theme is Rocks and here is a very rocky beach full of rocks.

This is how a lot of the beaches around the Puget Sound look like. It really took me by surprise when I first saw it because I was expecting nice sandy beaches like those in Florida. But the nice thing about these beaches are the the rocks are very smooth. My girl loves to try to skip rocks with them.
Thanks for visiting my PhotoHunt. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Last week we heard from a friend that there was a liquidation sale at a local piano store. Since we have been thinking about buying a piano for Lil’ C, we decided to check it out. We walked into the store thinking we were just going to look around and guess what happen? We walked out with an empty wallet and a piano! We ended up getting a digital piano since we have limited space in our house. But the piano comes with a 2 year warranty that if we decide to upgrade to an acoustic piano, we can trade in the digital piano for exactly the same price that we bought it. I really love that idea since we don’t want to spend too much on a piano without knowing if Lil’ C will still be taking piano lessons in a couple of years. So far Lil’ C loves her new piano and has even been practicing every day. Hopefully she will continue to do that.

That is the major question of the week! We have been trying to decide where to go for our end of summer vacation. Of course Lil’ C wants to go Orlando to visit her favorite princesses while we are leaning more towards Banff. It’s not that we don’t like Orlando but it is just way too hot to visit Disney in the summer. We were there one summer during pre-Lil’ C days and we ended up spending most of the time trying to find places with air-conditioning. So I think we will just have to take our Orlando vacations during the fall or winter. I am sure that all of us will have more fun without the sweltering heat.

Yay, another Random Tuesday Thought post! I totally missed the one last week. Anyway, did you notice that the back to school sales are not out in full force? I thought summer just started!!
I am going to try to hold off on all back to school shopping as long as I can with some exceptions. I still want to enjoy my summer without worrying about all the school stuff.
Lil’ C is in VBS (vacation bible school) this week. This is her first time since she wasn’t old enough last year. But she made it this year and having a lot of fun. There was a little pouting at first when she discovered that her best friend was in a different class. But super mommy managed to do a little work and got the 2 of them in the same class. Now we have 2 happy 4-year olds.
I am hanging out at Starbucks while waiting for Lil’ C. I thought economy was bad, so why is the line so long?? I have been here for an hour and the long line of people has just been growing. I wonder if it’s the same everywhere or is it just here since I am in Starbucks town.
We’ve got 1 1/2 more months of summer holidays. One more camping trip this weekend and thinking of making a road trip to Banff in August. Any recommendations for lodging, food & activities?? Was originally planning to go to Whistler but there’s just too much construction going on in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Will probably get a better deal at the hotels after the games. Don’t you agree?
That’s it for today. Hope everyone’s having a great day!
