Just My Rambling

I can’t believe it is the last day of summer holidays. It seems like it was yesterday when we started planning all the summer activities. But now, the weather’s cooler, the days are getting shorter and next week Lil’ C starts kindergarten. I am sad that summer is ending but I am also happy because I will have 3 hours of “me” time every morning. Lil’ C will only be going to a half-day kindergarten, thus the 3 hours.

In preparation for next week, we have been shopping like crazy this week. We bought uniforms, tons of school supplies, lunchboxes and more. I still have to buy her a pair of shoes. I wish I had a Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner to keep track of all my purchase and spending. I think I might have blown the budget a little. Oh well, I guess I will be able to tighten the belt once school starts.

So we will be enjoying the last summer weekend before the crazy routine starts on Monday. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Last week I had a major scare when my laptop went a little bonkers and would not boot up. I have not done any backup of my data recently, so the thought of losing all the data was very stressful. Thankfully after a little coaxing, my laptop came back up and everything was intact. The first thing I did was to back up all my important documents. I am debating whether to do a second backup on an online storage just in case my external hard drive fails. That might not be a bad idea. It never hurts to have an extra backup. So have you done any backup lately?

Yesterday I went to shop for uniforms for Lil’ C who will be going to kindergarten next week. I ended up having a sticker shock because the uniforms were way more expensive than I thought. No sale or coupons were available either. Actually it is not that bad for most people but for me, it was hard paying full price especially since I am used to buying things on sale or with coupons. So I ended up buying just the basic set and maybe get more later.

Summer is drawing to an end, so last week we decided at the last minute to take a road trip to see my sister and her family. It was a long drive but it was so worth it. Lil’ C has been having a blast with her cousins. With no house chores and cooking this week, I have just been lounging around and relaxing. I have also been eating so much that I think I might need to look for the best fat burner soon! We will be heading back tomorrow and I am so not ready for a whining preschooler who will be so upset to leave. I wonder if some bribery will help.

Why do I always forget it is Tuesday???? Must be the old age creeping up!! Anyway, we’re back to our normal wet and cool weather after that heatwave last couple of weeks. Guess it is a sign that summer is wrapping up and fall is on its way.

School starts in 3 weeks and my baby’s going to Kindergarten!! Sob! Sob! I thought that I was ready for her to start school but when I started shopping for school supplies and uniform, it hit me that this is the beginning of the rest of her school life. She’s all grown up now.

In case you haven’t heard, Yahoo is shutting down the Geocities. I have been trying to find my Geocities page but I cannot remember my Geocities ID. It has been so long since I accessed it. Actually Geocities is dear to my heart because that was the first website that I had ever written. Learning HTML, Photoshop, photo-sharing etc.. I was very proud of my design. But now I gotta find a way to download all my photos before I lose it all. Now what is my ID?????

We were supposed to be gone on a vacation this week but DH is stuck at work with a major problem. So I am a little bummed. Hopefully we can still go next week. I really think that we need to short vacation before all the school year activities start again.

Ugh! I am having so much trouble with firefox on this laptop. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it. The installation went smoothly. But when I try to open up firefox, it hangs the entire laptop. This laptop is running on Windows Vista. The firefox is running fine on the PC with Windows 2007. Anyone have any idea? Is it a Vista problem?

I do not like to drive at night. With my astigmatism, it is very hard to see during night driving. But with Lil’ C starting school this school year, I will probably have to attend some school functions at night. DH mentioned that we might try to switch our car lights to hid lights. Apparently HID lights provide a sharper and brighter lighting. Hopefully that will help me to be a better night driver or I might just have to bring DH along to all the school functions.

It is almost the end of summer and it seems like there are sales going on everywhere. Besides the usual back-to-school sales, there are also summer clearance sales and stock clearance sales. One of my favorite stores has their annual toy clearance sales and I managed to snag a few great deals. I even bought some really cheap party invitations that will come in really handy for birthday parties. I also bought some summer clothes for Lil’ C for next year because they were so cheap. They were less than $2 each down from their regular price of $12! It’s definitely worth stocking up. I am planning to go to more stores next week to stock up on birthday gifts in preparation for lots of birthday parties end of the year.
