Due to the wet weather, the mountains are getting pounded with snow right now. That is good news for those who want to get an early start on ski season but for those who are travelling especially over this holiday season, it is bad news. That is because when it snows, the roads on the mountains become very hard to travel due to the ice and snow. Even as of now, all cars are required to use chains when driving on the mountain roads. Unfortunately some people are ignoring that requirement and they are driving without chains. Hopefully they won’t get stuck in the snow and require the service of the car and motorhome towing company!

Since it has been so cold these past few days, we have been turning on the heater every day. After a couple of days, I realized that there is a musty smell whenever we turned on the heater. I think I really need to replace the air filters in the heater as soon as possible. We should have replaced it over the summer since it was used a lot the past winter but we had totally forgot about them. I guess a trip to the home improvement store is warranted this weekend.

Phew, what a week! It has been a really busy week because the little munchkin turns 5!! There was a party to plan and cakes to bake. Besides baking her actual birthday cake, I had to bake cupcakes too for her little celebration in school. Today we had a small party at home. It was fun but definitely exhausting. The little one has gone to bed exhausted while the hubby and I are both retreated to our little corner for a little downtime and watching a little tv. I am so glad we have a couple of tvs in the house because we can watch our own programs. Somehow, watching a sports program is not quite I had in mind for a relaxing show. Now if it is a cooking show, it is a different story. Anyway, next week will also be another crazy week due to Thanksgiving. I guess I had better get some rest between now and Thanksgiving.

And the nasty weather continues . . . . . Gosh, the rain doesn’t seem to want to stop. How I wish I could be at any of the jamaica hotels right now enjoying the sunshine. Alas, it is just a wishful thought. Anyway, these past 2 weeks I have been busy trying to get ready for Lil’ C’s birthday party but it has been really hard going shopping with a kid in the rain. It is so hard to get from the car to the store because the little one wants to jump in the rain puddles!!! I think she feels that if she doesn’t get to jump in the rain puddles, it is a waste of wearing the rain boots. Kids!!

The weather has just been nasty today. The rain has been coming down so heavily that some parts of town are starting to get flooded. The outside of my house has been blanketed by a layer of hail! The mountains are getting pounded by snow which is great news for the ski enthusiast. One of the local ski resort has already opened for the season. Such a big difference from last year when the ski resorts did not open till the first week of December. I wonder if we will be getting a lot snow this year???

As I mentioned in the previous post, it will be party galore at our house in the next 2 months. So I decided to get a head start and start cleaning up the house a little at a time. Gosh, I really do not like cleaning especially the bathrooms! I think there are too many bathrooms in this house. Speaking of bathrooms, I wish I could replace the sinks with Toto sinks. I really want pedestal sinks instead of my current sinks. Maybe that could go on my wish list. But for now, it is back to cleaning. Sigh…

I need a vacation! I was just checking out some orlando vacations and for a moment, I wished I was living in Florida again. It is only because it is so much cheaper to go to Disney World when you are a Florida resident. Unfortunately when we were living there, Lil’ C was way too young to be able to enjoy Disney World. Now that she is older and will totally enjoy a trip to Disney World, we are living across the other side of the country. A Disney vacation will be very expensive. Oh well, maybe if we start saving now, we might be able to afford a trip to Orlando next Christmas.

Year ends are always the craziest time of the year for me. Between Lil’ C’s birthday, her friends’ birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, there are just so many things going on. Every year I tell myself that I will plan ahead for certain things like C’s birthday party and all the birthday gifts but somehow every year it always end up the same. It’s always a mad rush at the last minute. This past week I have been running all over town looking for birthday presents and party decorations. Hopefully all these running around will reduce some of my belly fat. Hey, maybe that is a good thing. Losing weight in anticipation of all yummy party food ahead sounds good to me. But I think the number one resolution next year will be no more procrastination!

Lil’ C’s favorite animal is the pig. Guess why it’s her favorite animal??? Because it’s PINK!!! Wonder when this pink phase will pass? Anyway, some time ago, we made this cute little pig using toilet paper roll. We actually made 3 to represent the piggies in the Three Little Pigs
story. Actual craft instruction can be found HERE.

Help! I need to get rid of all the Halloween candy in my house!!! Since Lil’ C was only allowed to have 1 candy from her Halloween stash, I have a whole huge bag of candy leftover in my house. Well, guess who’s been sneaking candy from the candy stash. Me!!! I am going to have to find a way to get rid of them or I will be shopping for the best fat burner really soon. Seriously, year-ends are really bad for my weight. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am going to have to learn a lot of self-control. Anyone wants some candy?
