Feeling under the weather

Published by under Daily Life,Ranting,V

Sick, sick and more sickness! That’s what’s been happening in our household all this week. It has been an extra long week. Lil’ C started the cycle with stuffy noses that eventually evolved into ear infection, eye infection and sore throat. We had to cancel all plans this week including a plan to check out the big sale on modern dining tables. Lil’ C even skipped school for most of the week. A couple of visits to the doctor and lots of sleepless nights later, she is now on the road to recovery. Unfortunately I seem to have caught a little of whatever she had. I am really feeling under the weather. I am so glad it’s Friday and we have no plans for the weekend. Hopefully I can squeeze in lots of rests before the next week starts.

Time to go shoe shopping

Published by under Shopping,Useful Links,V

When I was living in Florida, we didn’t need many shoes. Usually all we need were a pair of sandals, a pair of dressy shoes or a pair of sports shoes for most days. However ever since we moved to the Pacific Northwest, it seems like we need gazillion shoes! Besides those mentioned above, we need rain boots, hiking boots, winter shoes, summer shoes and more. Now that a very wet spring is here and hopefully a very dry summer will be coming soon, I will need to check out Cole Haan to stock up on shoes. Speaking of shoes, why does a 5 year old outgrow her shoes so fast?

Getting in shape for the summer

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

The word diet is becoming a scary word for me nowadays. I have been trying to lose weight but nothing seems to be working. Maybe I should start taking curvatrim to speed things up. Summer is coming up really soon and it will be great if I can fit into my last year’s summer clothes. If I can avoid it, I really do not want to spend any money buying new summer clothes since I will only be using them for 3 months. I started back on my Wii Fit last night, so hopefully if I can stick to my routine every night and quit snacking, it might just work. Wish me luck!

Glad the auction’s over!

It’s done! Finally the school auction is over. We had a great time at the school auction and raised a lot of money for the school but I was exhausted from the preparation. Somehow I got involved in the making of the centerpieces for all the tables at the auction. Since it was a carnival theme, it was right up my alley with my obsession for all things cutesy. I ended up with a popcorn box centerpiece which turned out really cute but I had to spend the entire week making chocolate balloons and chocolate party hats for 25 tables. There were many long nights spend in the kitchen. I look so tired after the whole ordeal and probably need some prototype 37c and lots of sleep to get me back into shape again. Would I do it again next year? I think I will have to think twice as hard before I say yes again.

Mommies need mommy time too!

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

I am exhausted! I just got home from Lil’ C’s playdate. It was a really big playdate because the school had an early dismissal due to an event. So we ended up with 11 kids! But the great thing is the kids are very self-entertaining. So the moms ended up just sitting around and eating. It was really great to have mommy time but I think I ate too much! Anyone knows the best weight loss products? I think the next mommy time needs to be an exercise session. Maybe we should set up the Wii Fit instead. I will have to keep that in mind.

Not moving for now

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

I live in a townhouse now. There are pros and cons to living in a townhouse. The major con is of course not having a big yard for Lil’ C to run around. On the other hand, it is nice not to have to run around and get various home insurance quotes or gardener quotes since all those are included in the maintenance fees. Even though they might be on the expensive side, it is just nice to have one less hassle to deal with. However a few years down the road, I would love to sell my townhouse and move to a little rambler with just a little yard for me to grow some herbs. For now I am contented to be where I am.

Safety first

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

Recently a friend of mine had a break-in at her house. Even though we don’t live in the same neighborhood, her house is only 5 minutes from my house. It is actually pretty surprising since this area that we live in is considered a pretty safe area. But I guess with the economy being in not such a good state, anything might happen. Now I am considering whether to install home security systems or not. Even though it will be an added expense, it might just be a very worthwhile investment.

It is Tulip Festival again

Published by under Travel,V

I love April! It is spring, the days are getting longer and mostly it is tulip season. I love tulips and every year I look forward to the tulip festival. Last year we did not go to the festival because the blooms were a little messed up due to the harsh winter. However this year we had a mild winter and so the blooms are gorgeous. Thousands of multi-colored tulips all lined up are just beautiful. Even the couple of dreary looking metal buildings look nice among the flowers. Here are a couple of photos. Don’t you think they look beautiful?

Getting ready for camping season

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

It is almost camping season! I am really looking forward to it. I have already made a couple of bookings and planning to make more soon. I will also need to start making lists of things to bring for camping. Every year we always forget something or pack the wrong thing. Last year I accidentally packed acne medication instead of mosquito repellant! Ha! Hopefully with a list, we will be more prepared this year.

White or wheat?

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

Do you eat white bread or wheat bread? I have to admit that I eat too much white bread. I have been planning to switch to wheat bread but for some reason, everytime I go to the grocery store, I always forget and grab my usual bread. Next time I need to make sure that I remember otherwise I might have to look for cure for hemorrhoids because apparently white flour contributes to hemorrhoids. Whether that fact is true or not, there are still more benefits to eating wheat bread over white bread.
