Backyard or no backyard?

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

When we bought our house, we bought a townhouse because we did not want to mess with a yard. Our previous house had a huge backyard, so we had a really hard time maintaining it. So we decided that we will not mess with a yard this time. During the winter months, it has been awesome since we do not have to take care of any yard work but when summer rolls around, we actually do miss not having a nice yard to play in especially when we saw the nice connecticut swing sets in our friend’s back yard. Oh well, I guess we will have to make sure that our next house will have to have at least a small yard.

Summer Travel Tips

Published by under Uncategorized

Summer is just around the corner and that means it’s travelling time! Yay! I love travelling time. Since I am always planning the itinerary for the vacation, I am always on the look out for good travel websites for tips and ideas. Rather than trying to keep a notebook, I thought I should make a list here so that I can refer to it anytime I need it.

Websites:

  • Kayak.com
  • Yapta.com
  • SeatGuru.com
  • Airfarewatchdog.com
  • Tripadvisor.com
  • Trekaroo.com
  • HomeAway.com
  • HotelNegotiator.com – iphone app
  • HotelPal.com – iphone app
  • Citypass.com
  • GoRVing.com
  • CruiseAmerica.com
  • * Note: I am not affliated with any of the above websites. They are just a compilation of my own research.

    Back to work

    Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

After a week of spring break, C’s school starts again tomorrow. I am actually really relieved. It has been a very hectic week. First we took a short vacation to a nearby beach resort which was fun. It was a little rainy but there was at least one sunny day that we took advantage of and went cycling around the area. After we came back from the vacation, it was one playdate after another with C’s old friends. Needless to say, I didn’t have much time to do anything else. Next week I am going to have to work extra hard to catch up with all my work and household stuff. The first thing I am going to have to do is to sort through my huge pile of mail. I managed to briefly glance through them today and I already noticed that there were some mail like disability application and insurance forms that were not meant for me. I think the mailman has been delivering to the wrong box again. I can’t blame him though because our house address is not written on the mailbox, so usually a new mailman will sometimes make mistakes. Hopefully I will be able to get a lot of things done tomorrow.

    Camping season is near

    Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

Now that summer is just around the corner, we have started planning for our summer camping trips. Usually each summer we will camp at least 5 times each summer. We love camping, however there is one factor that has been dampening our camping spirit and that is rain! If we camp in the mountains, rain is not an issue but when we camp near the coastal area which we love, rain is an issue. That is why recently we started thinking about buying an RV. We even went to check out a couple of RVs and I love them. I think we will have to start saving towards an RV fund but first we will need to check if curt trailer hitches are suitable for our car. If not, we might have to figure out an alternative.

    Shopping early for gifts

    Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

I was shopping around for a birthday gift when I realize that many stores have already started selling Mother’s Day gifts already. It is amazing how early stores are starting to sell all the special occasion gifts already. I guess it is a good way to try to create as much sales as possible in this dismal economy. I am sure that we will be seeing gifts for fathers on sale for Father’s Day very soon. I used to get really irritated by all these early sales but nowadays, I have gotten used to it already. Oh well, if you can fight them, might as well join them. I am off to do some Mother’s Day shopping.
