Home Office Reorganization

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

The new school year starts next week. The beginning of the school year also signals the beginning of annual home office reorganization. I usually will try to go through all the important documents and decide what to do with them. I also try to check through my insurance policies to see if I need to make any additions. This year I am considering adding annuity to my insurance portfolio but I am still not sure how it works yet. I will have to do a little more research before deciding. Hopefully this year, the reorganization will be a smooth one unlike last year when I was distracted by life.

May I have a pet?

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

We do not have pets at our house. I love dogs but at this moment in our life, I am not quite ready to take care of an animal. I’ve always had pet dogs in my childhood. They were lots of fun but they were a lot of work too, especially for my mom. She had to take care of them most of the time. I remember one year she was particularly busy due to flea and mange problems. I can barely take care of one child, let alone an animal. Maybe someday when C is much older and able to take care of the dog herself, I might change my mind. Until that day comes, C will have to be content with her stuffed animals.

Mr not-so-handyman

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

I was cleaning the basement when I came across a whole box full of tools. There are micrometers, clamps, drills and much more. They belong to the DH. Seriously I have no idea why he has so many tools. He does not even like to DIY!! I think he bought some of the tools with the intention of making use of them one day but I am pretty sure that the one day will not be here anytime soon. I wonder if I can sell them off and earn some money out of it. He will never even miss them.

Not a happy camper

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

We just came back from a weekend of camping. This was our third and last camping trip for the summer, so we were really hoping for a good camping weekend. Unfortunately the camping site that we got was not quite up to expectation. It was really damp and mossy. There was even a strong urine odor. I guess it is due to the overgrown bushes that did not allow any sunlight to get into that campsite. Needless to say, we did not spend much time on the campsite itself. Luckily we were able to spend most of our time at the lake or at another friend’s campsite. I am definitely striking this campsite off my list next year.

Starting the school year with a gift

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

It is almost the end of summer and that means that school is about the start soon. This summer has been a very strange one. First of all, the weather has been really cold. We did not even have to use the fan even once this summer. Then we had some personal problems that crop up. Needless to say, we did not get to enjoy summer as much as we usually do. It has been a long summer, so I am actually glad that school is about to start soon. Now I can turn my focus away from the not so desirable summer and focus on a better school year instead. To start off, I am thinking of sending a berries.com just because gift to C’s new teacher. I am not sure what kind of summer she had but I think she will be very glad to start off the school year with yummy berries.

A different alternative

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

My neighbor likes to smoke once in a while. Last week she was telling me all about ecigarettes. Apparently nowadays with most places having a no-smoking ban, she is trying out an alternative way to smoke. I don’t quite understand how ecigarette work but I wish that she would try to stop smoking instead. That will be a better alternative instead.

The beginning of football season

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

I guess football season is about to start very soon because I just notice that many stores are starting to sell football memorabilia this week. I use to be a football fan in college but nowadays, I do not have time to watch football. Even so, I still have friends who are huge football fans. I think I should pick up a football gift for one of those friend even though his birthday is not for another few months. I notice that once the season starts, the memorabilia also slowly disappear from the shelf. So I had better get it before they run out of the nicest gifts.

Savings is good

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

In this tough economic time, coupons have actually been a huge lifesaver for us. We have been trying to tighten our belt but it is tough. We still have to buy food to eat and necessary household supplies. That is why coupons like dropdowndeals coupons are so helpful. They enable us to buy things at a discounted rate. Sometimes it is just a little savings but every little bit helps. Now with school starting soon, I have been checking the website for good deals on school supplies and clothes. And if I might even start a little Christmas shopping if I find great deals

Yard-free for the moment

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

Currently I only have a tiny yard at my house. When we were first looking for a house, a yard was not a priority. After taking care of a huge yard at our old place and spending hours maintaining it, we were so ready to live in a house where we do not have to take care of a yard. So far, it has been good. Although sometimes I do miss have a yard and a composter, I think that having no yard is right for our current lifestyle. Maybe when we are not travelling so much anymore, we could have a yard again because I would love to start planting again.

‘Tis the season for garage sales

Published by under Rambling,Useful Links,V

Summer is the season for garage sales. Last summer we were very busy with garage sales. We were on both sides of the garage sales. We sold stuff and we also bought stuff at garage sales. Unfortunately this year due to various circumstances, we were unable to hold a garage sale. We did not even manage to visit as many garage sales as I would want to. However we did get to a few good ones. We managed to get some household items and a couple of wrestling singlets for a friend. We only have a couple more weeks left before school starts. Hopefully I will still have time to scour more garage sales for great deals.
