Kids Craft: Vegetable Printing

Vegetable Printing

This was what we were doing earlier. Just cut up some vegetables like potato, carve a simple pattern on it and some paint and just let your child be creative. I think Lil’ C spend more than an hour doing this vegetable print. The good thing about this craft is that it requires minimal supervision. I just sat next to her and made sure that she had enough paint and fresh paper. I even managed to check out information about cholesterol medication for my DH while she was doing her craft. Now my dining table is filled with artwork but I have a happy child and that is what matters.

Mid-winter break

It’s mid-winter break this week for most schools in this area but Lil’ C’s school is not one of them. Actually I am glad that she still has school because it is still too early for a break considering we only just got back from our vacation about 3 weeks ago. Besides school, all of her other activities are cancelled for this week. So it has actually been nice just going to school for a couple of hours and then spend the rest of the day at home instead of rushing to another activity. At this moment she is busy doing some vegetable printing. It’s amazing how a piece of potato and some paint will make a little girl happy. It makes mommy happy too because I can sit next to her and check out some information on life insurance policy without feeling guilty.

Bonding over food

Phew, we had another fun baking session today. We managed to make at least 5 different kinds of snacks. The best thing is that we did it peacefully without any kids whining. They were too busy having a playdate among themselves. They played so well together that all the moms got to relax, baked and just had a fun time. The only bad thing is that we all ate too much! I think some colon cleansing to get rid of the bloating tummy are in order if we do any more of these baking sessions!

Too much coffee

Ever since I came back from my vacation, I have not been drinking enough water. I think the cold weather is making me drink hot coffee instead. Even though I was away for only a month, I was in a very hot place. So now my body is having a hard time adjusting back to the cold weather and the hot coffee are a big help. Unfortunately that means I am not getting enough water. Starting next week, I will have to prepare a big gallon of water and make sure I drink it else even the best acne solution will not help me when my face breaks out.

Getting back into the workforce

My girl will officially start school this coming school year and that means it is time for me to start looking for a job. It has been 10 years since I left the workforce. Now I am a little lost as to what kind of job I am planning to look for. I don’t think that I will be able to go back to the technology field anymore. Maybe I should do check the Entertainment workers job search and look for a designer job or something similar. I am also hoping to just work part-time too so that I can be home for my girl when she gets off from school. Now where’s the classified?

Mystery products

As I was cleaning out my medicine cabinet, I discovered a lot of medicine especially vitamins that I had no idea they were there. I think my mom must have added them there when she came to visit the last time. There are hgh supplements, gingko and a lot of vitamins that I have never heard of. Some of them can still be consumed since they have not expired yet. I guess I should go check with my mom and shed some light on these vitamins before deciding their fate.

More baking!

Just when I thought I am done with Chinese New Year baking, a friend invited me and some other friends over to her house for a baking session. Help! Someone get me some top fat burners!! I love baking but I think that my body hates me because I keep adding weight to it. I think next year I will skip all the Chinese New Year baking like last year or I could just have a stronger willpower and not eat so much!

Long overdue spring cleaning

Filed Under (Rambling, Useful Links, V) by BlurMommy on 11-02-2010

Since I have not been sleeping well, I have been spending the time doing some spring cleaning. For the past few months, between holiday celebrations and vacations, house cleaning was the last thing on the list. So now it is time to play catch up. Sigh! It’s been 3 days and I am still cleaning up the kitchen. I guess I didn’t realize how much stuff I have been hoarding. I even found some prenatal vitamins in the medicine cabinet and the daughter is already 5! Eek! I guess that shows when the last time I checked that cabinet.

Thinking about schools

Filed Under (Rambling, Useful Links, V) by BlurMommy on 11-02-2010

I am a little stressed right now thinking about my girl’s school. It’s only February and it seems like all the schools have February deadline for registration for September. Before I had kids, I thought it was going to be so easy. They are going to grow up, go to Kindergarten and then regular school without any problem. But now that she is at that school-going age, I realized that there are so many factors involved in making that decision. I would really hate to make a wrong decision that will affect her future! Hopefully I will get it all sorted out soon so I can have a good night sleep without sleeping aid. Maybe a talk with her current school teacher will be a big help.

Baking up a storm for Chinese New Year

Filed Under (Food, Useful Links, V) by BlurMommy on 10-02-2010

My oven has been working overtime again this past week. I have been baking up a storm getting ready for Chinese New Year this weekend. My favorite bake this year is this pork jerky. I ate this when I was in Malaysia last month and was really tempted to bring some back to the States. Fortunately I came to my senses and realized that the pork jerky would have been confiscated at the customs since we are not allowed to bring meat product into the country. So I decided to make my own when I got back.

Bak Kua 2010

They are so good! I haven’t stop eating them since I made them. At this rate, I am going to need to get some Solo Slim or I will have to get a whole new wardrobe!
