Just My Rambling

My little 7 year old is a little princess. She loves to dress up in fancy gowns and accessories. The little dress-up chest with a couple of gowns that I bought for her 3 years are the most used items in her playroom. This year she complained that she did not have enough dress-up accessories, so she even made some for herself. She drew earrings and necklaces using construction paper and stick them on herself. Yesterday I caught her drawing eyelashes!! Apparently she decided that her eyelashes are not long enough. Yikes!! Such a vain pot! I wonder where she learned about long eyelashes? She definitely did not learn it from me. It must be from one of the books that she has been reading. Anyone knows which is the best eyelash growth product? Just kidding!

Before I had a kid, my car was always sparking clean, inside and out. Nowadays, however that is such a rare scene. Even though I do not allow my kid to eat in the car, sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, she will have some snack in the car. Sometimes I wonder how much of the snack ends up in her tummy because I will always find bits and pieces of snack everywhere the next day. Luckily I have one of those catch all floor mats which is so handy because it catches not only those falling snacks, it also does a great job in containing those muddy little feet. Now I am off to vacuum the rest of the car before the ants make an appearance.

With only 2 weeks left for school, it’s graduation time! Last week, I received some promotional offers for Graduation Photo Cards. So I have been thinking of making some for C. I know she’s only graduating from first grade but I figure if I do one for her every year, it will make a great memory book for her. It’s also a good way to inform the extended family about the milestones in her life. I think that is a great idea. Time to start looking for a good photo.

Ugh! I do not like spam. No, not Spam as in the food but spam as in the unwanted soliciting mails that floods my email every day. Lately I have been receiving a lot of mail about free online dating sites and other things that I am not interested in. Sometimes I wonder where the sender gets their mailing lists. Luckily I have separate emails for different purpose and the spam usually floods those emails that I set up for fun. So when I get start getting too many unwanted mails, I will just delete those email account.

The reason why it is so important for me to get organized this year is that I need to get rid of a lot of C’s stuff. She is a big girl now and has outgrown a lot of her clothes, toys and even books. When we went to Disneyland during the Christmas break, she is tall enough to ride all the rides already. In fact, she can even reach the bathroom sink without using her favorite farm stool. She has also moved on from little kid books to chapter books. My little girl is growing up. I am not quite sure whether I am happy or scared that she is moving on to the next phase of her life.

I always get a headache when I have to buy a birthday present for any of C’s friends. I always have no idea what to get for them. Then there is that one friend that I totally love because it is so easy to buy presents for her. She is a horse-lover and anything that is related to horses. So all I have to do every year is to check out the equestrian shop to get her something that is horse-related and she will be happy. I wish it could be so easy for all the kids, especially my own girl.

Christmas is less than 2 months away. Have you made your wish list yet? I am not big on Christmas presents, so my list is very short. All I want are a couple of books and some matouk linens. Short, eh? I just feel that I have everything I need, so why ask for anything more. This year I plan to teach Lil’ C the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate it. I am really hoping that she will not get caught up in the commercialization of Christmas.

Now that Lil’ C is in full-time school, she hardly has time to join other activities. So whenever her school offers any after-school activities, I will try to let her join. That way I don’t have to drive all over town trying to get her to other activities. Saving time and gas is at the top of my priority list now. Anyway, one of the latest classes that the school offers is hip-hop. Since Lil’ C loves to dance, I think this will be a good class for her but before I enroll her, I will have to go get her some hip hop clothes because I am sure that pink princess dance outfits will not be appropriate for that class.

What is your least favorite household chore? For me, it’s cleaning the house especially the bathroom. I don’t mind cooking or doing laundry but cleaning, that’s a different story. If I ever go back to work, the first thing I would do is to hire a cleaning company to clean my house every week. For now, that is a luxury that I can’t afford. Maybe I should make everyone clean their own bathroom and maybe I should get a new hair loss shampoo because there seems to be hair everywhere especially in the bathroom! Sigh… time to stop whining and get back to cleaning.

Can you believe that summer is almost here? School will be over in just over a month. I am in the middle of planning our summer activities. I have decided that I am not going to send Lil’ C to camps. Instead we will do Vacation Bible School and lots of camping. I have booked a couple of camping sites already and hopefully a couple more bookings next week. I have also been secretly checking out rv for sale because I really want an RV! Unfortunately we won’t be able to afford one right now. So it will be tent camping for now. I can’t wait for summer to start. It will probably zoom by just like this past year.
