Piano Recital

Lil’ C had her first major piano recital over the weekend. The recital was originally scheduled for the week before Christmas but it had to be postponed due to the snowstorm. So most of the kids were playing Christmas songs for the recital. Lil’ C did a great job considering that she was playing on a baby grand piano for the first time. Usually she only plays on a keyboard. She had no stage fright at all! She’s definitely not like me. I would have been shaking at my knees.

The spouse, B was in charge of videotaping Lil’ C’s recital and guess what? he forgot to press the record button!!!! Grrrrr…… Next time I am taking over the videotaping duties! Sorry Lil’ C, we’ll get the next one on tape. : )

Ice-Skating Fun

Just before we got snowed in for the Christmas holidays, we went ice-skating in the freezing weather. This outdoor ice-skating rink is only there for the holiday season. They just set up the ice-skating rink in the middle of the park under a tent structure.

Ice Skating 1

It was definitely more fun skating in an outdoor rink than an indoor rink. It was also really beautiful since it had just snowed the previous day.

Ice Skating 2
The little one really enjoyed herself!

Unfortunately a few days after we skated there, there was a mishap. We had a snowstorm and there were just too much snow. That caused the entire tent to collapse. Luckily there were not many people skating since most people were snowed in. Most of them escaped with minor injuries. The ice-skating rink has since reopened but without the tent. It is now an open-air rink.

an internet-savvy 4 year old!

Conversation 1:
Lil’ C: Mommy, can you bake some cornbread muffin?
Mommy: But C, I don’t know how to bake cornbread muffin.
Lil’ C: Mommy, it’s very easy. Just go to the internet, type in cornbread muffin and you will see the recipe and all the ingredients you need to make them.
Mommy: *speechless*

Conversation 2:
Lil’ C: Mommy, what does this word mean? (pointing to a word in the book)
Mommy: I don’t know.
Lil’ C: Mommy, just go to your computer and open the dictionary. It will tell you what it means.
Mommy: *speechless*

Ahhhh, the powers of internet to a 4 year old!!! : P Whatever happen to the good old-fashioned recipe book and dictionary???

First mini piano recital

Filed Under (All about C, Fun Stuff, Learning) by BlurMommy on 20-11-2008

Lil’ C has been taking piano class for a few months already. Originally I never intended for her to start piano so early but it so happens that my neighbor is a piano teacher. She wanted to start a preschool piano group class and needed some guinea pigs. So that’s how she got started on piano classes.

I remember when I was young & took piano classes, I didn’t like them very much. Piano classes were also boring to me. There’s also the dreaded piano exams. So I quit after a while. A fact that I regret sometimes. Well, at least I know if Lil’ C ever quits piano, it will not be for the same reason as mine because they have NO piano exams here!! They just learn whatever they want. Right now C is loving her classes. She has since graduated from preschool piano group class to private class. With the private class, every month they have a little recital among younger kids. This was taken last month at her very first mini piano recital.

She is four!!

Lil’ C is officially four now. She is growing up too fast! Seems like just yesterday that she was toddling around. Although I must say that I really enjoy her now more than when she was a baby. I love the fact that we can carry on proper conversations, crack jokes together etc. I never really grew up with little kids around me, so this is a whole new experience for me. It is really fun seeing the world through the eyes of a four year old. Her thoughts, imagination, creativity and words never fails to baffle me everyday. Of course there are those tantrum days that drives me up the wall but who doesn’t have bad days, right?

Happy Birthday My Litte One!!

I don’t want to go home!

I have read a lot of mommy blogs that talk about their kid crying when they go to school. Well, guess what? I have a similar problem except that my problem is completely opposite!! My girl cries when I pick her up from school!!! Today when I went to pick her up, the moment I walk into her classroom, I heard a loud cry. It turned out to be my girl!! She was very upset that school time was over. She wanted to stay back with the other kids who were in the afternoon class. It took a lot of comforting and a little bribery to get her to leave the school. Sigh…. kids!! They really make life interesting, don’t they?

Party at home

Filed Under (All about C, Rambling) by BlurMommy on 12-11-2008

*Dusting off cobwebs* Yes, I am still around. Trying very hard to stay afloat in midst of all the craziness. So after lots & lots of phone calls, negotiation & indecisiveness, I finally decided to have Lil’ C’s birthday party at home. My original intention was to have it at the zoo but the wet & cold weather won that battle. Not sure if the kids would like to be touring the zoo in the nasty weather. After all, Lil’ C only wanted balloons, a cake & her friends around for her birthday. So at home it is!! It will be just a simple quiet playdate / birthday party for her with a few of her good friends.

And guess what this bad mommy did with the money intended for the birthday party? She bought a Wii !! Well, Costco had them on sale & I could not resist the temptation!! Hahaha!!! The Wii package came with a Wii Sports game and Lil’ C has been having a blast playing it. Of course, she’s only allowed to play with the Wii during the weekends. : )

Lil’ C reading her favorite book

This is for my aunties who wanted to hear Lil’ C read. If you listen carefully, she tends to mumble a lot and also reads really fast. The fast speed is my fault. I think sometimes I read too fast especially when I am tired. So she picks up the habit. Sigh……
