Ice-Skating Fun

Just before we got snowed in for the Christmas holidays, we went ice-skating in the freezing weather. This outdoor ice-skating rink is only there for the holiday season. They just set up the ice-skating rink in the middle of the park under a tent structure.

It was definitely more fun skating in an outdoor rink than an indoor rink. It was also really beautiful since it had just snowed the previous day.

Ice Skating 2
The little one really enjoyed herself!

Unfortunately a few days after we skated there, there was a mishap. We had a snowstorm and there were just too much snow. That caused the entire tent to collapse. Luckily there were not many people skating since most people were snowed in. Most of them escaped with minor injuries. The ice-skating rink has since reopened but without the tent. It is now an open-air rink.

Bad news at the airport

Filed Under (Around Town, Rambling) by BlurMommy on 21-12-2008

We actually do not mind the snowstorm because we have no travel plans for Christmas. However thousands of people are probably really upset with the snowstorm because they are stranded at the airport now. A lot of flights have been cancelled due to the weather. Thank goodness we cancelled our travel plans otherwise we might be one of those stranded at the airport. Originally we wanted to go to CA for Christmas but changed our mind because of the expensive tickets.

Unfortunately it is probably one of the busiest time at the airport this time of the year since everyone is trying to get home for Christmas. It seems like many of them ended up sleeping at the airport since the local hotels nearby are all full. Apparently they are also running out of food at the since the food deliveries are not getting there. Gee, I really hope that they can get this mess sorted out and get everyone and their luggage home in time for Christmas.

Let it snow, let it snow……

After the boo-boo by the weatherman yesterday, it is snowing like crazy today. We have been out playing with snow and will be going out in a little while to go sledding in our community. That’s the beauty of living on a hill. Instant sledding hotspot! I am watching TV right now and watching a lot of cars doing ice-skating right now! Lil’ C is a little bummed about missing the last day of school since schools have been cancelled. But I am sure that she will be happy once we go out & have fun in the snow.

First snow of the season

A little backdated but I just had to post this first snowfall that we had this winter. Last Sunday, we woke up to this gorgeous view. Snow on the mountain

and some accumulation on the balcony. There wasn’t that much snow but it was enough for the little one to have some fun in the snow.

Loving the fall leaves

Filed Under (Around Town, Pacific Northwest) by BlurMommy on 22-10-2008

My favorite part of the fall season is definitely watching the leaves change color. Here in the pacific northwest, we are surrounded by evergreen trees which means we do not get those gorgeous fall colors that happens in the New England area. Nevertheless, we still do have some trees that changes color and that to me symbolizes autumn is here. Here are some of the fall colors that I spotted around town.

Gorgeous, aren’t they?
