Sick, sick and more sickness! That’s what’s been happening in our household all this week. It has been an extra long week. Lil’ C started the cycle with stuffy noses that eventually evolved into ear infection, eye infection and sore throat. We had to cancel all plans this week including a plan to check out the big sale on modern dining tables. Lil’ C even skipped school for most of the week. A couple of visits to the doctor and lots of sleepless nights later, she is now on the road to recovery. Unfortunately I seem to have caught a little of whatever she had. I am really feeling under the weather. I am so glad it’s Friday and we have no plans for the weekend. Hopefully I can squeeze in lots of rests before the next week starts.

This morning, we woke up to this . . . . . .

Sigh.. that means no field trip to the zoo today. There’s 3 inches on the ground and there are still snow flurries as I am writing this. It’s a mess on the roads today because a lot of people were caught off guard by the snow. After all, it is already the end of February! When will Spring be here?

I do not understand insurance!! Do you? Yesterday I went to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy. Last month I didn’t have to pay anything for my medication. This month I had to pay 55 cents for the exact same prescription! I know 55 cents is not much but I was just a little puzzled that I had to pay for it. Even the pharmacist could not tell me why. I wonder if I will have to pay $1 next month. Speaking of insurance, I am thinking of getting term life insurance which is just as complicated. I am glad that there are websites that instantly compare term life insurance so that it is easier for me to decide which insurance I should get.

Yesterday I realized that the roof covering our community mailbox was missing, I didn’t know what happened. I thought someone must have damaged it. Today I found out that it was damaged not by someone but by a fallen tree! Apparently 2 nights ago, there was a windstorm and caused a tree to fall. It was a tall tree, so it ended up falling on a car and the community mailbox. The car was more seriously damaged than the roof. I hope the owner has insurance for the car. Anyway, I am glad that no one was injured. If the tree had fallen a little sideways, it would have hit a house and that would not have been a pretty sight!!

Guess what happen to my car tire this weekend???

I just got into the car when I realized that the car was a little lopsided. I got out of the car and discovered the flat tire. It must have been a slow leak over the weekend. My DH managed to put the spare on, after which I took it to Costco to repair. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be repaired, so I have to get a new tire to replace. But the good news is that Costco will pay for most of the cost since it’s under their warranty. Yay for Costco!
Having a flat tire is definitely a hassle but I am glad that it happened at home and not in the middle of the busy highway!

Took this photo last week from the car when I was driving Lil’ C to preschool. The white patch in front is normally green grass but now it’s white. I was not quite sure whether it was really heavy frost or just a light snow flurry. Either way, it confirms that winter is almost here already. I have mixed feelings about winter. I love snow but would hate to drive around on the slick roads. Furthermore, we live on a hill, so it will be very interesting to try to get out of the house on a slick road!!

Yep, it’s been a really wet weekend again! Other than the beautiful weekend last weekend, it has been wet for the past month. Normally it doesn’t bother me so much but for these past few weeks, I’ve been trying to bring my gal to the corn maze & pumpkin patch but we kept getting rained out. *sigh* I guess it’s time to get some raincoats & rain boots!!

This afternoon, while I was updating my blog, I heard the winds howling and saw lots of leaves being blown around. I didn’t think twice about it because I thought it was just a regular windy day. Then later I turned on the TV and noticed that there were a lot of evening school closure and event cancellation. Wow, it turned out that there was a wind storm going on. Lots of down trees & power loss! The wind force went as high as 60 mph. The wind was so strong that they even temporarily closed the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. There’s supposed to be another storm tomorrow. Hopefully it will not be like today.
