Just My Rambling

Sick, sick and more sickness! That’s what’s been happening in our household all this week. It has been an extra long week. Lil’ C started the cycle with stuffy noses that eventually evolved into ear infection, eye infection and sore throat. We had to cancel all plans this week including a plan to check out the big sale on modern dining tables. Lil’ C even skipped school for most of the week. A couple of visits to the doctor and lots of sleepless nights later, she is now on the road to recovery. Unfortunately I seem to have caught a little of whatever she had. I am really feeling under the weather. I am so glad it’s Friday and we have no plans for the weekend. Hopefully I can squeeze in lots of rests before the next week starts.

Ugh! I am having so much trouble with firefox on this laptop. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it. The installation went smoothly. But when I try to open up firefox, it hangs the entire laptop. This laptop is running on Windows Vista. The firefox is running fine on the PC with Windows 2007. Anyone have any idea? Is it a Vista problem?

Ugh!! I just found out that someone stole my credit card number and had been happily using it in Mexico!!!! The thing is that this is the credit card that I use only for online purchases. I never use this credit card for any other purpose which means this credit card has never left home. That means that someone must have gotten hold of the number and made a card since that person had been using it all over town!! That’s scary!! And that person also managed to charge above my credit limit which leads me to question the purpose of the credit limit. Is it supposed to stop people from using above the credit limit?? Thank God that I caught this fraud soon enough or the damage would have been really bad. While trying to do damage control with the credit card customer service, I learned that the person was still trying to use my card!!!!Ahhhhhhh !!!!!!!

Hello…. anyone around?? yes, I am still around. Been under the weather lately and it seems like so’s the entire community! It seems like every kid in the preschool is down with something. I’m not sure if it’s because of the freezing weather this week or it’s due to the yo-yo-ing weather where it’s 60 degree one day and then 30 the next! We even had snow the first half of the week. I really can’t wait for spring to be here.

Anyway, I just came out of the doctors office and just had to rant a little. Is it just me or does the medical system here drives anyone else crazy? I’ve been having some medical issues that has been bothering me. So it’s off to Doctor A who then sends me off to Doctor B who sends me to Doctor C and it continues. First of all, in order to see Doctor A, I’ve had to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance, then on the day of appointment, there’s another 1 hour wait before I get to see Dr A for 10 MINUTES!! Then I have to make an appointment 1 month in advance for Dr B, then it’s another 1/2 wait for a 15 Minute appointment. After which, there’s more advance appointments for tests etc. My rant is why is it so hard to get an appointment when the dr only gets to see you for 10-15 minutes!!  Many many months later and I still do not have an answer to my problem.

I remember when I was in Florida and had a really bad cold, all I needed was to see the dr for an antibiotic prescription. Guess what, the dr’s office gave me the earliest appointment, 2 MONTHS later!!! Seriously, that is ridiculous! I don’t think that I would need to see the doctor 2 months later. I am sure that I would have recovered by then. 

Grr… enough ranting for now. Just had to get it off my mind. I am so glad it’s Friday and it’s looking beautiful outside. Hopefully the blue skies will stay around for the weekend. Happy weekend, everyone.

Seriously I think the weather has just gone crazy! In the past 24 hours, we’ve had heavy snow, snow flurries, hail, sleet, rain and even a tiny peek of blue skies. The funny thing is that it comes in random order. It would hail for a while, then snow, then sleet and so on. The weather is definitely too fickle-minded for my liking!!

Unbelievable! I am watching CNN right now and they are showing a list of CEOs with salaries more than 20 million and guess where all these CEOs are from? They are from those companies that receive bailout money from us the taxpayers!! No wonder those companies are in trouble. They are giving a huge chunk of money to their CEO. 20 million, imagine that! I can’t even afford a trip to the Westgate in Orlando while these people are probable jet-setting to some exotic vacation somewhere using my tax money. Sigh….

Why oh why is it snowing again?? It has been snowing the whole evening and it’s still coming down hard. If it continues to snow at this rate, they might have to cancel the first day of school tomorrow. Sigh.. I really hope that won’t happen. They had already cancelled the last week of school in December last year due to snow. Although even if they don’t cancel school, I doubt I can drive out of my community since I live in a hilly area. Poor Lil’ C! She will be so disappointed tomorrow. She has been looking forward to seeing her friends at school. I think if we ever move again, we will move to a house on a flat land!!!

It was snowing the whole day today. Since the kids were all out of school, some of us got together and went sledding in the community. The kids had so much fun sledding except that once in a while, everyone had to stop and moved out of the way of some crazy drivers. These drivers were driving way too fast on a slippery icy road. I really wish there were huge digital signage all over the road warning them of the danger of speeding on an icy road although I am not sure if they would even be bothered. Some of the cars really did end up crashing into the curb.

The Dow is now below 10K mark, the first time in nearly 4 years. As of now, it has dropped yet another 550 points and the market is not even closed yet! Looks like the passing of the bailout bill is not easing any anxieties. This is so depressing. Personally I am not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Do you? Sigh.. when will we ever get out of this mess?

Aaargh!!! The Microsoft Excel is driving me nuts!! I am trying to work but for some reason, the Excel keeps hanging!  I know that it is due to the different version being used but shouldn’t it be smart enough to handle the difference? I am using Excel 2007 on my laptop while my work stuff is on Excel 2003 which is the same version as my house PC. I know that I can solve the problem by saving it to the 2007 version but it might cause problems with others especially if they are using 2003 version which does not even read the 2007 version. That’s why I am trying to keep it at the lower version but it is not working!!! Help!
