Today has been a crazy day. We had two playdates and one birthday party. What was I thinking? We even had school today. So it has just been a very long day. Hopefully she won’t be having nightmares tonight from all our activities today. We were so busy running around that I did not have time to even check out the nutrisystem reviews. I should consider getting a smaller laptop so that I can do some online work while I am driving her around. That will save me a lot of time.
Over the weekend, we did an extreme makeover of Lil’ C’s room. She will be turning 5 soon, so it was a good time to get rid of all her baby and toddler stuff. We finally replaced her little kid bed with a twin bed which is now sitting on the floor because we have not gotten a bed frame yet. She wants a princess bunk bed. I wonder if I can convince her otherwise! The walls in her room are still a little bare. Next week I will probably frame some of her artwork and hang them on the wall. I might just add a couple of candle sconces on the wall too, just for decorative purpose.

Yesterday I went to shop for uniforms for Lil’ C who will be going to kindergarten next week. I ended up having a sticker shock because the uniforms were way more expensive than I thought. No sale or coupons were available either. Actually it is not that bad for most people but for me, it was hard paying full price especially since I am used to buying things on sale or with coupons. So I ended up buying just the basic set and maybe get more later.

Lil’ C has been playing piano for slightly more than a year. Even though she is not practicing as much as I would like her to, she is still doing really well. She has performed at 3 recitals and she really loved them. Currently we only have a keyboard which has worked well for her so far but I think it is probably a good time to upgrade to a real acoustic piano. From what I understand, the keys on a keyboard are lighter than a piano, thus affecting the way a pianist plays. A piano will help her to play piano the right way. Looks like it’s time to scour the sales paper to see if I can get a good deal on a piano. Any recommendations?
It’s mid-winter break this week. That means no school! So I am at the mercy of a 4 year old all day. So far it has been fun just hanging out with my little one. Guess where we were at all day today? The bookstore!!! Yes, I realized that my little 4 year old is a total bookworm. She could just sit and read all day. Yes, she can read all by herself too. Lil’ C started reading even before she turned 3. Now she is into reading chapter books already. It is actually a little scary for me because I feel that some of the contents of the chapter books are not appropriate for her yet. So nowadays, I try to do a little pre-screening of the books.
Anyway, I realized that through all the reading, she has reached a point where she is creating her own story too. So recently I decided to cut up some papers, added a colored paper for a cover and created some blank mini storybooks for her to write her stories.
This was the first story that she wrote a couple of weeks ago.
The cover:

Pages 1&2:

Pages 3&4:

Back cover:

She still has all her uppercase and lowercase all jumbled up but it doesn’t matter. I was pretty surprised that she wrote the whole book by herself. Since then, we have been working on a few more books. Yesterday we had one about monsters & princesses!!! That one has lots of pictures instead of words. But it was definitely an interesting read.

Last weekend, B and I had to go to the phone store to check out something. While we were talking to the salesperson, guess what Lil’ C was doing?

Apparently she found the iphone on display and was entertaining herself. To her delight and mommy’s dismay, she discovered that there are GAMES on the iphone!! Now she wants to know when she’s getting her own iphone!! Sure sweetie, someday when you earn your own money, ok? : P

These were taken when we were on vacation in California 2 years ago. It was in one of those crazy hat store at Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco. The little one loved trying on all the funny HATS.
She loves this colorful hat

But not quite sure what to do with this lobster hat! : P

Thanks for visiting my PhotoHunt. Happy hunting & have a great weekend, everyone!

Lil’ C had her first major piano recital over the weekend. The recital was originally scheduled for the week before Christmas but it had to be postponed due to the snowstorm. So most of the kids were playing Christmas songs for the recital. Lil’ C did a great job considering that she was playing on a baby grand piano for the first time. Usually she only plays on a keyboard. She had no stage fright at all! She’s definitely not like me. I would have been shaking at my knees.
The spouse, B was in charge of videotaping Lil’ C’s recital and guess what? he forgot to press the record button!!!! Grrrrr…… Next time I am taking over the videotaping duties! Sorry Lil’ C, we’ll get the next one on tape. : )
Just before we got snowed in for the Christmas holidays, we went ice-skating in the freezing weather. This outdoor ice-skating rink is only there for the holiday season. They just set up the ice-skating rink in the middle of the park under a tent structure.

It was definitely more fun skating in an outdoor rink than an indoor rink. It was also really beautiful since it had just snowed the previous day.

The little one really enjoyed herself!
Unfortunately a few days after we skated there, there was a mishap. We had a snowstorm and there were just too much snow. That caused the entire tent to collapse. Luckily there were not many people skating since most people were snowed in. Most of them escaped with minor injuries. The ice-skating rink has since reopened but without the tent. It is now an open-air rink.

an internet-savvy 4 year old!
Conversation 1:
Lil’ C: Mommy, can you bake some cornbread muffin?
Mommy: But C, I don’t know how to bake cornbread muffin.
Lil’ C: Mommy, it’s very easy. Just go to the internet, type in cornbread muffin and you will see the recipe and all the ingredients you need to make them.
Mommy: *speechless*
Conversation 2:
Lil’ C: Mommy, what does this word mean? (pointing to a word in the book)
Mommy: I don’t know.
Lil’ C: Mommy, just go to your computer and open the dictionary. It will tell you what it means.
Mommy: *speechless*
Ahhhh, the powers of internet to a 4 year old!!! : P Whatever happen to the good old-fashioned recipe book and dictionary???
