Baking craze

I have to declare November and December to be my baking months. My oven has been working overtime. Besides holiday bakings, I have also been baking birthday cakes. I baked 3 birthday cakes in a month and that is a lot for me. Check out my 3 cakes: Pink Flamingo Cake, Tinkerbell Teapot Cake and Unicorn Pegasus Rainbow Cake.

Lost my blog!

So sorry to those who dropped by my blog and could not find it. For some reason, my blog disappeared!! I have no idea whether it was hacked or it was just messed up but all my files were wiped out. So instead of spending time researching term life insurance, I ended up on the phone today with my web hosting trying to recover my blog. They managed to recover some of my files but they could not recover my Wordpress database. Grr…. Luckily I had a backup on my laptop. Even though it is not as recent I had hoped it to be, at least I got most of my blog back minus a bunch of my latest posts. From now on, I need to make sure that I back up everyday or at least on the days that I post. If you do frequent backups like me, it might be a good time to start too. Sigh.. now I have to spend the next few days trying to figure out which posts are still missing. Wish me luck!

My little princess

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by BlurMommy on 10-09-2009

My little girl is obsessed with princesses. From books to dressing up, it is all about being a princess. Initially I thought this princess obsession phase will only last a short time but I think I am not seeing the end of the princess obsession tunnel anytime soon. This summer she watched a couple of princess movies and she has really been dancing all around the house as if she is dancing in a ball. She has also trying to get her daddy to dress up in a tuxedo like a prince while she dresses up in a ball gown. Sigh… I think daddy will be very happy when this obsession comes to an end.

1 cent sale at Staples

It feels like summer has just started and yet this past week, all the back to school ads are starting to make an appearance in all the shops. I promised myself I won’t even think about school supplies till at least August but I am making an exception for this one since it is going to save me a lot of money. Staples is having a 1 cent sale on some school supplies. Yup, 1 cent!! Even if you don’t have school-going kids, you can stock up too. After all we always need pens, highlighters and copy papers, right? Here, go check out my shopping blog for more details. Have fun shopping! : )

Less procrastination necessary

I have to admit that it has been several years since I have gone to the store and bought actual greeting cards. Instead I have been using ecards. I think the biggest reason I use ecards is because I am a big procrastinator and usually by the time I remember, it is too late to send out actual greeting cards. With ecards, you can still send it out at the last minute. Having said all that, it always feels good to receive an actual greeting card in the mail. I think I will really make an effort to send out greeting cards through mail this year. What about you? Do you prefer to receive greeting cards in the mail or electronically?

Lil’ C reading her favorite book

Filed Under (All about C, Uncategorized) by BlurMommy on 30-09-2008

This is for my aunties who wanted to hear Lil’ C read. If you listen carefully, she tends to mumble a lot and also reads really fast. The fast speed is my fault. I think sometimes I read too fast especially when I am tired. So she picks up the habit. Sigh……

Back to school time

Yoohoo…… school finally started this week!! Today is the 2nd day of school and here I am sitting in Starbucks, enjoying my cup of vanilla latte while surfing without any “mommy, play with me, mommy, help me …….” in the background!! : ) I feel kinda bad saying that but it is just sooooo nice to have some me time, even if it is just for a couple of hours.

I think Lil’ C was also glad to be back at school. She missed her friends a lot and I think just getting a little tired of hanging out with mommy all the time. So when Monday came, she was very excited. I send her to school with an animal-theme bento filled with her favorite food. She had a great time and we even managed to squeeze in a playdate after school. What did mommy do? She hung out at Starbucks, blog a little and met up with a friend for a little bit. Fun!

This school year, Lil’ C will be going to a Cinese preschool 3 times a week and an English preschool 2 times a week for 2 hours a day. I like sending her to different schools because the schools are run so differently. The Chinese school is more academic while the English school is all about creative play. So she will be getting the best of both worlds.

Problem solved, I hope!!

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by BlurMommy on 02-08-2008

Woohoo!! I think I finally figured out the problem with my food blog. Yesterday, I upgraded both my blogs to WP 2.5 (I know, it’s not the latest version. I’m just a little slower in upgrading :) ) Anyway, this blog was ok after the upgrade but when I try to access my food blog, I would get the msg “Internet explorer cannot opened the site. Operation aborted”. After a lot of research and testing, I finally figured out the problem!! It turned out the Sitemeter is the problem maker. Somehow the Sitemeter script clashes with this WP. Once I remove the Sitemeter, I can access my food blog again. Phew!!!  Hopefully this problem will not appear again. If you have any more problems accessing my food blog, please let me know. Thanks!!

Lil’ C’s first dentist visit

Filed Under (Kids, Uncategorized) by BlurMommy on 14-05-2008

I was going through my photos when I came across these photos of Lil’ C’s first dentist visit. This was taken at the end of January.

Dentist 1
Here she is waiting for the dentist. Look at the cool glasses that they gave her to wear. On her left hand, she’s holding the new toothbrush they gave her. She’s actually holding on to the toothpaste on her right hand.

Dentist 2
First the dental hygienist cleaned & polished her teeth. She was so excited because the dental hygienist told her that she was putting princess sparkles on her teeth!! :) Then rinse & gargle. Finally the dentist came by and checked for cavities. The result: No cavities! Yeah!

Dentist 3
Look at how happy she was talking to the dentist! She had so much fun going to the dentist. So different from my own experience. I remember I had to be bribed and dragged screaming & crying to the dentist!!In case you are wondering, I did prepare her for the dentist visit by reading her this book - Dora’s Show Me Your Smile. I think it really helps because at least she knows what to expect at the visit and not be afraid.
