This week I finally joined the gym again. I have been procrastinating for a long time but when a great deal came up on a discount website for the gym near me, I grabbed it. So now officially I have a gym card with me and I am determined to use it. Last Friday, I actually went to the pool and did 20 laps! I was super tired but it was a good kind of tired. Next week I am planning to be at the pool 3 times for the week. I am crossing my fingers that I will really be committed this time because I really do need to lose weight before the holiday season comes around soon. If I keep to my commitment, then I do not have to think about weight loss pills as alternative. Gym, here I come!

Every year it is always amazing to see how early all the holiday decorations come up on sale at the store. Years ago, Christmas decorations do not come out till after Halloween and halloween props do not make an appearance till beginning of October. This year, as soon as school started, all Halloween, Christmas, winter props are all out on sale already! I guess the shops want us to have more time to sell their stuff and make a bigger profit. I guess I should start shopping early to help them.

The end of the year is coming up soon and that means it is birthday season. For some unknown reason, many of C’s friends all have year-end birthdays. Even C herself has a year-end birthday. Every year I always ended being stressed up because not only I have to organize C’s birthday party, I have to scramble to look for presents too. However this year, I am determined to be way ahead of the game. I have already started birthday present shopping. Yay for me! I managed to buy a Lego set for one friend and equestrian boots for another. So that is 2 presents down and 5 more to go. Wow, if I actually get all my shopping done, I might have a lot of free time at the end of the year.

I think I am one of those rare people that do not use my cell phone very often. The only reason I even have a cell phone is for my family to contact me. In fact before we had our current cell phones, everyone in the family had prepaid cell phones. They were used so rarely that I only topped up the amount every six months. It was definitely a money saver that all of us hated giving up but at this moment, we needed to ability to be able to connect to the internet, hence the smart phone. I guess this time around, luxury wins over cost.

When it comes to dieting, it is very hard for anybody but I think it is especially hard for people like me who has a food blog. How am I supposed to stay away from certain variety of food when I have to cook and write about them? Maybe I should start writing a diet food blog to inspire me. A friend suggested that I should buy a sexy camo lingerie and hang it in front of my mirror for inspiration. Maybe that is not such a bad idea either. But I think before I start any diet, I need to start heading to the gym first especially now that I have a lot more time.

The new school year starts next week. The beginning of the school year also signals the beginning of annual home office reorganization. I usually will try to go through all the important documents and decide what to do with them. I also try to check through my insurance policies to see if I need to make any additions. This year I am considering adding annuity to my insurance portfolio but I am still not sure how it works yet. I will have to do a little more research before deciding. Hopefully this year, the reorganization will be a smooth one unlike last year when I was distracted by life.

We do not have pets at our house. I love dogs but at this moment in our life, I am not quite ready to take care of an animal. I’ve always had pet dogs in my childhood. They were lots of fun but they were a lot of work too, especially for my mom. She had to take care of them most of the time. I remember one year she was particularly busy due to flea and mange problems. I can barely take care of one child, let alone an animal. Maybe someday when C is much older and able to take care of the dog herself, I might change my mind. Until that day comes, C will have to be content with her stuffed animals.

I was cleaning the basement when I came across a whole box full of tools. There are micrometers, clamps, drills and much more. They belong to the DH. Seriously I have no idea why he has so many tools. He does not even like to DIY!! I think he bought some of the tools with the intention of making use of them one day but I am pretty sure that the one day will not be here anytime soon. I wonder if I can sell them off and earn some money out of it. He will never even miss them.

We just came back from a weekend of camping. This was our third and last camping trip for the summer, so we were really hoping for a good camping weekend. Unfortunately the camping site that we got was not quite up to expectation. It was really damp and mossy. There was even a strong urine odor. I guess it is due to the overgrown bushes that did not allow any sunlight to get into that campsite. Needless to say, we did not spend much time on the campsite itself. Luckily we were able to spend most of our time at the lake or at another friend’s campsite. I am definitely striking this campsite off my list next year.

It is almost the end of summer and that means that school is about the start soon. This summer has been a very strange one. First of all, the weather has been really cold. We did not even have to use the fan even once this summer. Then we had some personal problems that crop up. Needless to say, we did not get to enjoy summer as much as we usually do. It has been a long summer, so I am actually glad that school is about to start soon. Now I can turn my focus away from the not so desirable summer and focus on a better school year instead. To start off, I am thinking of sending a berries.com just because gift to C’s new teacher. I am not sure what kind of summer she had but I think she will be very glad to start off the school year with yummy berries.
