It was a cold 40 degree weekend and guess what we did? We went camping!! We just got tired of waiting for the warm weather to get here. Usually it’s in the 60s by this time of the year.

We got a new tent this year to accomodate the little one.

Summer is just around the corner and that means it’s camping time! This weekend, we went to a nearby park to check out the camping ground. Look what we found…… Yurts!

I have never heard of yurts until I started camping. According to wiki, “a yurt is a portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling structure used by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia” These yurts can be found in many of the state parks but this particular park has just added them recently. They can be rented for USD40 a night. Most of them has a bunk bed in them.

Don’t you think they look very cute? We’re planning to try them out this summer. It will definitely different from tent camping.

It’s a little cloudy but the blue sky finally made a grand entrance after been missing for 2 days. This weekend, we had a miserable weekend of snow, sleet and even hail! It is such a joy to see the blue sky even if it’s just for an hour before it’s night time. The weather has been a little crazy lately. Normally the temperature is in the 60s this time of the year but it was been in the 30s the past 2 days. I was planning to show beautiful tulip photos this weekend but the plan to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival had to be cancelled due to the snow. Hopefully the tulips will still be in bloom next week!

I love winter and this winter season has been lots of fun with lots of snow. However I was thrilled to see these at the market today! The first tulips of the season! It’s always nice to see the first blooms of the spring. So bright, colorful & cheerful!! Doesn’t it just brighten your day too??

We were driving out of the church parking lot when I noticed these trees. I think they just look so cool. Bald trees against a gloomy cloudy background. Looks like something from a painting, don’t you think?

We went sledding again this weekend and I just couldn’t resist taking a photo of this restroom. Can you spot it?

It has been snowing so much lately that the restroom is almost covered by the snow. I guess the workers got tired of trying to clear a path to the restroom that they just brought in a portable bathroom and left it right beside the road instead! Since the road is cleared by the snow plough everyday, they don’t have to worry about having to make sure that the restroom is accessible all the time.

It was a great weekend. We brought the little princess to the mountains for her first sledding experience. She had so much fun! Sledding, making snow angels, making a snowman and having hot chocolate made her day!

And when the sledding is over, a tired little girl gets a sled ride from daddy to the car on the way home.

Very cold weather, a little snow and a sniffling toddler are very good reasons to stay at home all weekend. Since we were stuck at home, what is the best thing to photograph? Food, of course!!

What a weekend! Our first snow of the season. It didn’t snow a lot but it was enough for my 3 year old to make her first snowman, make her first set of snow footprints and just have fun throwing snowballs at mommy and daddy!
