2 years ago, if anyone asked me anything about medical terms and machinery, I would have been totally ignorant. However after DH’s health scare last year, I am way too familiar with them now. So when a friend talked about buying ekg machines at MedicalDeviceDepot.com, I actually knew what he was talking about. It’s a knowledge that I would prefer not to have but I think as we grow older, these medical knowledge are something not to be pushed aside. I seem to been hearing more about medical issues among my friends too. I guess that’s the major downside to getting older
Lately I have been receiving a lot of delivery packages at home. Apparently, the dear husband of mine has been shopping online buying a lot of accessories for his new hobby – biking! So there has been deliveries of gloves, helmets, jackets and more. There was even a Shoei Neotec helmet which apparently was ordered wrongly. I really hope that he is done buying all the accessories because he is racking in lots of credit card bills. Sigh…. Who knew that a good hobby to keep fit could be so expensive.
It has been a few years since we moved into our current house. When we moved in, we brought in most of the furniture from our previous house. We added a couple of new pieces but not too many. However now some of the furniture are starting to show signs their age. I really think that furniture nowadays are definitely not built to the quality of the olden days. So I am starting to shop around for new furniture to replace the current ones. I wish I could find the bedroom furniture los angeles had in their showroom. It is so hard to find something that both of us will agree on.
Chinese New Year is just around the corner and that means it is time to start baking some yummy goodies. Every year I try to make just a small batch to give to neighbors and friends. This year is of no exception. I am not sure what I will be making yet but I know I will definitely make some pineapple tarts and pork jerky. Those are easy to make except for the fact that I waste a lot of time waiting for the oven. I have a small oven that can only bake a small batch at a time. Too bad I can’t use the laboratory oven that is sitting in my garage otherwise I will definitely take a shorter time to bake. Yum, I can’t wait to start baking!
Summer is coming up soon and that means summer vacation! This summer we plan to make our yearly visit to see family as usual. Usually it’s a scramble to get all the shopping done while trying to wrap up the school year. So this year I am already starting to take order from family so that I can get my shopping done earlier. As usual, there are lots of requests for vitamins, books and clothes. A relative also asked me to check how much are swisher sweets cigars. I will have to make sure that they are not too expensive to include in my shopping list. I can’t wait for summer vacation!
I am a big fan of hand-me-down clothes for kids. The biggest reason is that they outgrow their clothes so fast that it is just a waste of money to buy clothes for them. Don’t get me wrong. C does get new clothes especially the special occasion clothes. However for everyday clothes especially play clothes and at-home clothes, I try to source for hand-me-down clothes if I can. Of course, not all the clothes we received are usable by her. Sometimes they are not the right size or sometimes they are just not practical for her just like the horse riding apparel we got last year. So we will usually pass on the clothes to others who need it.
C has been learning piano for the past 5 years. Lately I have thinking about letting her have a break from piano and maybe try out a new instrument. I even borrowed a violin and a guitar from a friend to let her try them out. Unfortunately the violin is a little to small for her but the guitar is the perfect size. I just have get some new guitar straps at musicians friend to fit her. So far she has not decided which instrument she wants to learn yet but I think she is leaning towards guitar. I guess I better start checking out if there are any good guitar teachers near my neighborhood.
Whenever I am free which is not often, I would browse through websites that sell homemade products. I think there has been a major increase in the number of sellers this couple of years. With the way our economy is, everyone must be working hard to earn more money to survive and every little bit helps. Lately I also noticed a lot of sellers are offering promotions and free gifts like keychain carabiner or lanyards. I guess with such a stiff competition within the homemade goods market, it has become necessary to promote aggressively else you will get lost in the sea of mass vendors. Hopefully the promotions will be to boost their business.
* Dust Dust* *Cough Cough * It has been a while since I updated this blog. Somehow life got so busy that inevitably this blog always loses when it comes to priority. But I guess that how life is. Family always comes first no matter what, right? Anyway, it is good to be back blogging. It’s already the 11th day into the new year. It is hard to believe. Well, another year, another resolution. This year I have not totally given up on resolution but I did a short and hopefully manageable list. I only have 2 things on my resolution. The first is of course get healthy. Last year was not a good health year, so this year I will spend more time at the gym and eat healthy. The second resolution is to get organized. To get started on this resolution, I spend last week just shopping for stands and mounts for my electronics and also book shelves for all the books and magazine. Hopefully I will be able to achieve these resolutions this year.
November is usually a crazy month for me filled with lots of no-school days, birthdays and vacations. Currently the most important item on my long to-do list is C’s birthday. My baby will be turning 8 soon!! It’s unbelievable how time flies. It seems like just a few months ago when Dora and Barney were on her birthday wish list but I guess that was a few years ago. Now her wish list consists of Barbie and electronic gadgets. I wonder if I can convince her to add puzzle books and board games to her list. I would be so much happier with the latter lists than her first list.
