Just My Rambling

Recently I started digital scrapbooking again. It has been a while since I last played around with digital scrapbooking. Even though I have a lot of tools for regular scrapbooking, I find that digital scrapbooking is so much more fun. I guess it is because I can redo the whole layout if I don’t like the final result. Furthermore, there are so much digital scrapbooking freebies available on the net. It’s definitely cheaper than buying all the supplies for paper scrapbooking. I wish these tools were available when I made my wedding invitations many years ago.

I moved to my current house 3 years ago. When I moved in, I left quite a few boxes still unpacked into storage. I finally unpacked them a couple of weeks ago to get ready for the garage sales. To my surprise, I found quite a few treasures. Things that I had totally forgotten about like my wedding album, some travel souvenirs and books. I even found a box of cigars which was given to us many years ago! Of course I also found some really useless things too. I guess I should spring clean more often.

I have only one goal for this summer and that is to declutter my house. One of the reasons for that is because I have been so busy that I have been having a hard time trying to keep the house clean. If I can keep my furniture and belongings to a minimum, it will be so much easier to clean. That is why I have been so obsessed with garage sales lately. I am really on a mission to get rid of stuff. In fact, I was even thinking of getting rid of my entertainment centers and TV too so that I can replace it with a plasma TV and mount it on the wall. That will be one less piece of furniture to dust!

Speaking of garage sales, I think I am getting addicted to it. At first, I was not quite sure about this whole garage thing because it took me forever to sort through all my old stuff. Then I had to tag all those stuff with prices. That was not very fun. But once that tedious part was done, the actual selling part was actually fun. It was interesting to predict which item would be a hot seller and which would not be. Surprisingly, my predictions were not very accurate. Anyway, even though I didn’t earn enough to buy a new notebook computer, it just felt good to be able to get rid some redundant things and actually earn money from it.

Phew, what a weekend! We had a 4day weekend which would have been awesome if we had good weather. Unfortunately we had rain everyday for the past 4 days. The rain was not good for our garage sales either. I did manage to sell a lot of things but I am sure that if it had been sunnier, business would have been much better. Oh well, at least I did get rid of some big things that were getting in the way. So with our revenue from our garage sales, we got a new Samsung microwave. Yay! I can finally pop popcorn again.

This weekend a few of us have combine together to do a garage sale. I like to do multi household garage sales because it helps to curb the boredom of doing it alone. The kids are happier too because they get a play date out of this deal too. Anyway, I was checking out some of the stuff for sale and was so tempted to buy a lot of them including a weight bench. I have no idea what I will do with it since I don’t do ab workouts but it was new, so cheap and so tempting. I had to keep reminding myself that I was there to sell my stuff and not buy more stuff. Maybe I should just keep my wallet at home when I go to the garage sale this weekend. That way I won’t be tempted to accumulate more things.

I have to admit that I do not know much about social security benefits. So when a neighbor recently asked me about social security disability benefits, I didn’t have any answers. Instead of giving him the wrong answer, I told him to look for companies like Allsup who are professionals that help others receive their benefits. I am sure that they will be able to answer all his questions and help him to receive his benefits.

Lil’ C starts full day school in September. So what does that mean for me? I will have 6 hours of free time every day. Maybe it is time to start looking for a job, or at least a part-time job since I would still like to be at home when she gets back from school. A friend mentioned that insurancespecialists might be a good field to get into but I am not too sure. I am already confused over my own insurance policies, so how will I be able to handle policies for clients. I think I will do better in the food industry. Maybe I should work in a coffee joint for starters just for employee discounts.

Since I was so busy with everything else in life, my workout had to take a backseat for a while. My Wii Fit is sitting next to the TV collecting dust and so are my running/walking shoes. Sigh! Maybe I will need to check out the new diet pill for now. But I am really hoping that with the warmer weather coming, we will be able to do lots of cycling or swimming in the summer. Right now the weather has not been looking too good. I am praying very hard that we will have a warm summer like last year.
